How do I get a referred to a lawyer to help with my legal problem? What will it cost? What do I need to bring to my appointment? This website answers these questions and more.
Important things to know:
Lawyer Referral is NOT free Legal Services.
Lawyer Referral is a service of the Alabama State Bar that helps people find lawyers to help with legal problems.
All lawyers you will be referred to are licensed in Alabama and are members in good standing of the Alabama State Bar.
The referral attorney agrees to charge no more than $50.00 for the first 30-minute meeting.
If your problem requires work beyond this time, and you decide to hire the lawyer, be sure to ask about any additional fees.
An attorney bases his/her fee on the time and type of work involved, the difficulty in solving the problem and your needs as the client.
The Lawyer Referral Service encourages you to ask for a written fee agreement before the lawyer does any legal work beyond the first 30-minute meeting.
