Who We Are

Legal Services (civil) for people living with HIV/AIDS and for medical and behavioral health clients of Whitman-Walker Clinic regardless of HIV status. Services offered to the GLBT community, regardless of HIV status, in the areas of: discrimination based on sexual orientation or transgender status; wills, advance medical directives and powers of attorney; asylum and other immigration issues; transgender law (including name and gender changes in legal identity documents).  East of river Immigrants Ticket to Work Advance Medical Directives Powers of Attorney

We serve residents of the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland, and northern Virginia.
Languages Spoken  French, Spanish
Interpreters can be provided for: Spanish and French speaking staff, and interpreter services available for other languages

Income Guidelines: 

  We do not have specific income guidelines, except for our estate planning services. Prospective estate planning clients must have an annual income of less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines ($43,320 for a household of one in 2009) and liquid assets of less than $25,000.
 
Other Requirements: For help, you must be:
  A person with HIV/AIDS
  HIV-negative client of Whitman-Walker medical or mental health services; or a gay, lesbian or transgender person seeking help with discrimination, access to health care, immigration or estate planning services-estate planning limited to low-income persons
