Who We Are

The Health Rights Law Clinic helps D.C. seniors and people with disabilities to resolve high medical bills, obtain coverage and medical services, and resolve disputes with private health insurance companies and public benefits programs.

Access for the deaf: All services available; use telephone relay system for communication.
Income Guidelines: 

  Clients must be Medicare beneficiaries and/or seniors.

  This program does not serve prisoners
 
 
Services We Offer
This group provides the following types of services based on your legal needs and its resources:
 
  Full Legal Representation- In selected cases.
  Brief Advice
  Self-Help Materials- District-specific publications regarding rights under Medicare and Medicaid, long-term care insurance, and other programs.
  Other- Community educational programs. We also provide problem resolution by working to resolve problems with health insurance companies, Medicare or Medicaid, and high medical bills.

Emergency Instructions
If your problem is an emergency as described below, follow the contact instructions for emergency cases. Most offices are open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
 
What is an emergency?  If you cannot get needed medication through a Medicare prescription drug plan.
 
Emergency contact information:  Call (202) 994-6272 and leave detailed information about your problem, stating that it is an emergency, and provide your contact information.
