| Who We Are |
CAIR Coalition brings together community groups, pro bono attorneys, volunteers and immigrants from the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland working to ensure that all immigrants are treated with fairness, dignity and respect for their human and civil rights. Our mission is to serve as the primary source of legal assistance for detained immigrants and asylum seekers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and to strengthen and support the work of our coalition members. CAIR Coalition’s legal services program is the primary source of legal assistance for detained immigrants and asylum seekers in the Washington metropolitan area. We conduct group legal orientations and provide individual consultations for immigrants being held in jails in Virginia and Maryland. We also provide legal assistance to unaccompanied immigrant children detained in Virginia. In addition, CAIR Coalition finds pro bono attorneys for detained immigrants (both adults and children) who are eligible to apply for asylum or some other type of immigration relief.
