Calvary Women's Shelter Calvary Women's Shelter is a 25-bed transitional housing program for women for all women in need. Support services ensure that women who stay at the shelter are able to make positive steps toward independence. Calvary also provides women educational programs, employment opportunities, personal support from case managers, mental health services, addiction recovery support and much more

Central Union Mission Central Union Mission offers spiritual recovery during a 16-24 week program that includes alcoholic rehabilitation and temporary shelter for men. Meals are served twice a day. Chapel services are also provided.

Change, Inc. Change, Inc. provides assistance in finding affordable housing as well as temporary shelter, employment readiness training, and referrals for emergency food, clothing bank, and shelter.
Christ House Christ House provides a 32 bed medical recovery unit for homeless men and women suffering from medical conditions. Persons may reside there until they are recovered, at which time they will be referred to a more permanent place of residence.

D.C. Housing Authority The Housing Authority provides rent assistance for low-income families and individuals. Once certified to receive aid, the recipients find their own housing, although some assistance is given by the agency.

D.C. Rape Crisis Center The Center's services include: a 24-hour hotline, group and individual counseling services for rape and incest survivors and their families and friends, a companion program to accompany survivors to hospitals, courts and police proceedings, low-cost self-defense classes, a growing library, training for professionals working with survivors and a wide array of community education programs including "Staying Safe" classes for children of all ages within the D.C. public school system.

DC Office on Aging The DC Office on Aging develops and carries out a comprehensive and coordinated system of health, education, employment, and social services for the District's elderly population, who are 60 years of age and older. Its services include a city-run nursing home as well as Senior Centers throughout the District, all of which serve lunch.

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) helps low-income District residents who face housing emergencies. A housing emergency happens when immediate action is needed to avoid homelessness, to re-establish a home, or to prevent eviction from a home.

Housing Counseling Services, Inc. Housing Counseling Services provides counseling to tenants who are facing eviction or are delinquent in rent payments and to home owners who are facing default or are delinquent in mortgage payments. It provides Emergency Rental Assistance funding to qualified applicants (see attached file for information on how and where to apply). It offers pre-purchasing counseling, budget and financial counseling, and home rehabilitation counseling. It assists consumers by citing appropriate laws and regulations and by providing referrals. A certified housing counselor is available to assist with related problems.

Kuehner Place for Abused and Neglected Elderly This is a program of the D.C. Office on Aging and SOME (So Others Might Eat). The shelter is for those elderly persons who have suffered some form of abuse or who are at risk in the community. There are multiple services offered, including meals.

Luther Place Women's Night Shelter This is a night shelter for women. A hot meal and light breakfast are provided. Space is available for up to 31 wome, but the shelter can handle more in an emergency. Most women are mentally ill.
