Florida Justice Institute - advocacy for prisoners and victims of housing discrimination

Other Information

The Florida Justice Institute provides services in two broad areas of concern: prisoner's rights & housing discrimination.

Prisoner's Rights:

The Florida Justice Institute provides civil legal assis tance in selected cases dealing with conditions of incarceration. We limit the cases we accept to those which, if success ful, will benefit large numbers of inmates and those which, although involving only one inmate, in volve serious or permanent injuries.  And, within these guidelines, we can only accept those cases where there is a reasonable likelihood of success on the merits and for which we have adequate resources. We also do not accept cases involving criminal matters, including post-conviction relief, habeas corpus, eligibility for or revocation of parole, eligibility for or revocation of controlled release, clemency, deportation, Jimmy Ryce Act commitments, or ineffective assistance of counsel claims.  Nor do we normally become involved in issues relating to whether gaintime has been properly calculated, awarded or revoked.
