특정한 메디케이드 환자에게는 수수료를 물리지 못합니다. 환자가 21세 이하이거나 임신 하였거나 양로원이나 호스피스에 있는 메디케이드 수혜자일때 약국은 수수료를 물릴수 없습니다. 메디케이드 환자의 응급 서비스나 가족계획 서비스에도 수수료를 물릴수 없습니다. 이런 경우가 아닐때에는 약국이 수수료를 물릴수 있습니다. 그렇타 하더라도 약을 안받고 약국을 나올 필요는 없습니다.
수수료를 낼 수 없더라도 약사는 당신에게 약을 주어랴만 합니다. 약사는 당신의 돈 낼 능력이 없다는 말을 받아 들여야 합니다. 연방정부의 메디케이드법이 당신을 보호합니다. (42 C.F.R. §447.15) 약국은 당신에게 청구서는 보낼수 있지만 약을 안 줄 수는 없습니다.
