Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (Houma Office)
Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) is a non-profit law office which has served low-income community residents since 1979. SLLS provides free services to eligible people through its staff and volunteer attorneys. SLLS works with community groups and social service agencies to give up-to-date information about legal issues affecting the poor in Louisiana. SLLS also collaborates with other legal advocacy organizations around the state, and nationally, in litigation and educational efforts to protect the legal rights of the poor and to improve their lives.
The Hammond office serves the parishes of Livingston, St. Helena and Tangipahoa. The Covington office serves the parishes of St. Tammany and Washington. Parishes south of Lake Ponchartrain are served by the New Orleans and Marrero offices.
SLLS now covers a 22-parish area of southeastern Louisiana, including the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. The Baton Rouge and Houma offices now serve 12 parishes in the greater Baton Rouge metropolitan area:
