Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity.   The legal staff of Legal Aid of NC - Pembroke Office   provides legal assistance in civil matters to eligible, low-income clients who have problems with their basic needs and live in the three-county area surrounding Pembroke, NC:

Hoke County
Robeson County
Scotland County

Languages Spoken  Spanish
Interpreters can be provided for: We normally use interpreters--particularly for Spanish speaking clients for interviews and trials. Also we have the legal lines service.
Wheelchair Accessible Y
Access for the deaf: We will retain someone conversant in sign language when necessary.
Income Guidelines: 
  Your family's income should be at or below 125.0% of the poverty level.

There are limited exceptions. Please call the Legal Aid of NC office in Pembroke to see if you are eligible for our services.
 
Other Requirements: For help, you must be:
  This program does not serve prisoners
 
Sometimes clients are responsible for filing fees, service of process, and other out-of-pocket expenses.

This group provides the following types of services based on your legal needs and its resources:
 
  Full Legal Representation
  Brief Advice
  Pro Se Legal Clinic- Once a month at the Center for Community Action in Lumberton, NC
  Self-Help Materials- We provide brochures to the Southeastern Family Violence Center in Lumberton, NC and also provide brochures to the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center of Scotland County in Laurinburg, NC
  Other- Community Education
