Legal Services of Southern Piedmont(LSSP) provides legal assistance in civil matters to low-income persons in Charlotte, NC area and in west-central North Carolina. LSSP's mission is assuring a full measure of justice for those in need.

  Please have ready all documents relating to the legal issue or problem.
  If you are outside of Mecklenburg County and speak English, you may call: 1-800-438-1254. If you speak Spanish, you may call: 1-800-247-1931 for assistance.

Languages Spoken  Spanish
Interpreters can be provided for: Interpreters are provided whenever the situation is necessary. We find interpreters both locally and through Language Line.
Wheelchair Accessible Y
Access for the deaf: Yes, we provide an initial call through the Relay System, then use of interpreters where necessary.
Income Guidelines: 
  Your family's income should be at or below 200.0% of the poverty level.

  There may be different criteria for immigrant or non-English speaking
 
There are rules for determining who is included in the household for which financial eligibility is determined and various exclusions from income and other considerations, but no general exceptions to income requirements.
 
We charge nominal sliding fees ($10 to $100) for most services, no fees for domestic violence cases, fees reduced or waived to ensure that no client is turned away due to inability to pay and that no client is subjected to an extraordinary hardship in order to pay the fee.
