Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity.   The legal staff of Legal Aid of NC - Durham Office provides legal assistance in civil matters to eligible, low-income clients who have problems with their basic needs and live in the seven-county area surrounding Durham, NC:

    Durham County        Person County
    Caswell County        Vance County
    Franklin County        Warren County
    Granville County

  Please be ready to bring all documents that are relevant to the legal issue at hand.
  We have different locations in different counties. If you are eligible for an appointment, you will be directed to a site convenient for you.

  Your family's income should be at or below 125.0% of the poverty level.

There are some limited exceptions. Please call the Legal Aid of NC office in Durham to see if you are eligible.
