Disbility Rights North Carolina
Disability Rights North Carolina (DRNC) is a private, tax-exempt, non-profit corporation that began by offering legal representation to children and adults with mental illness and developmental disabilities. With the law as our tool, our work helped to improve the lives of thousands of individuals. As the new Protection and Advocacy organization for North Carolina, we now serve people with all types of disabilities and many more lives will be changed.
DRNC is available for:

- Public education and training on issues affecting people with mental disabilities.
- Technical assistance to lawyers and lay advocates.
- Contracts with advocacy and service organizations for training, referrals, technical assistance, litigation and special projects.
DRNC provides very specialized legal assistance. Our current priorities are cases with potential for systemic change and include:
- Special Education
- Abuse
- Neglect or Exploitation of people with disabilities
- Denial of Medicaid Benefits
- Alternative to Guardianship
- Limited Guardianship.
DRNC's mission is to protect the legal rights of people with disabilities through individual and systems advocacy.
