Everything You Need to Know About Your Human Services Hearing
by: New Mexico Legal Aid
The hearing will be at the Human Services Office. This is where they keep your case. You can bring anyone you want to the hearing. Anyone you bring may speak during the hearing.
The only people in the room should be you and the people you bring. From Human Services there should be the caseworker and the boss of the caseworker.
The hearing is done by telephone. The hearing officer is in Santa Fe. The hearing is recorded on tape.
The hearing officer asks everyone in the room to give their name for the record. Remember to speak clearly so your voice can be picked up on the tape recorder.
The hearing officer will swear in anyone who will speak or testify. Next the Hearing Officer will let everyone see the forms that will be used.
These forms will be the proof the hearing officer will use to make decisions. They should have been in the package you received earlier.
You should tell the hearing officer about any forms want him to see. You must do so now. Human Services will have to mail or fax them to him
The hearing officer will ask human services why it made these decisions.
You can ask questions when human services finish.
The hearing officer can also ask questions.
