City Bar Justice Center - Lawyers Foreclosure Intervention Network (LFIN)

WHO WE ARE

The Lawyers' Foreclosure Intervention Network (LFIN) is a pro bono project co-sponsored by the City Bar Justice Center and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The project provides legal assistance to low-to-moderate income homeowners facing foreclosure, with the goal of keeping them in their homes. Volunteer attorneys assist homeowners in negotiating with the lender to modify or restructure the loan and represent borrowers at the foreclosure settlement conferences. We interview clients in our office at the City Bar to determine eligibility and then make our best efforts to match the homeowner with a volunteer. The program is open to anyone in the five boroughs who is facing foreclosure and living in the home they own, both those who have been served with legal papers and those who are not yet in court but are having trouble paying their mortgage.
