| WHO WE ARE |
New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI) is a nonprofit civil rights law firm that strives for social justice. In partnership with member law firms, corporate law departments, and other organizations, NYLPI helps underrepresented people develop legal strategies to serve their vision for themselves and their communities. The Disability Law Center (DLC) at NYLPI applies a combination of education, advocacy and litigation to protect and promote the civil rights of people with disabilities. In achieving its objectives, the DLC has brought numerous lawsuits and engaged in vigorous advocacy to address the fundamental rights such as the right to free and appropriate education, the right to work in a non-discriminatory environment, the right to participate fully in social and civic life, the right to health care on a non-discriminatory basis, the right to treatment and the right to refuse treatment.
