| Legal Aid Society: Manhattan Housing Court Project |
 |
 |
| |
| WHO WE ARE |
The Legal Aid Society is a private, not-for-profit legal services organization, the oldest and largest in the nation, dedicated since 1876 to providing quality legal representation to low-income New Yorkers. It is dedicated to one simple but powerful belief: that no New Yorker should be denied access to justice because of poverty.
This office represents tenants who live in Manhattan and are being sued in Housing Court or in a New York City Housing Authority termination proceeding.

This program consists of one lawyer and two paralegals and occasional law students. We represent 75 families a year in Housing Court who receive public assistance and contain at least one minor child. We prefer people to come in Tuesday through Thursday but we will screen them any day and set up appointments for intake (or do immediate intake in the case of an emergency). Feel free to also call 212-766-2450.
