Manhattan Legal Services - SRO Law Project
 
WHO WE ARE

Manhattan Legal Services provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income residents of Manhattan. Areas we cover are landlord & tenant law, Social Security Administration hearings, Earned Income Tax Credit audits, unemployment hearings, food stamp applications, public benefit denials, victims of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, Family Law, limited Immigration matters and other areas.

SRO Unit represents residents of Single Room Occupancy hotels who reside on the eastside and anywhere below 14th street.  This Unit represents residents who are having tenancy issues.

Individuals from Single-Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels, rooming houses and lodging houses on the East Side of Manhattan (from the east side of Fifth Avenue to the East River) and in all of Lower Manhattan (below and including the south side of 14th Street).
Languages Spoken:  Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese Chinese, Spanish
Languages for which interpreters can be provided: Phone interpretation for other languages can be arranged. En Español Interpretación por teléfono para otros idiomas es dispuesto.
Wheelchair Accessible: Y
Access for the deaf: Interpreters may be available.
 
Other Requirements: For help, you must be:
  You must be a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant.
  This program does not serve prisoners

Emergency Instructions

What is an Emergency?  Client has received a Notice of Eviction from a City Marshal or has been illegally lock out by landlord.
