The Legal Aid Society's Brooklyn Office for the Aging provides free civil legal service to Brooklyn resident aged 60 and over on a wide range of matters with an emphasis on eviction prevention, maximization of government benefits and urgent consumer law issues.

Have all the papers about your legal problem and information about your income on hand when you call.
Intake for new cases is by telephone (NOT by Walk-In), generally on the 2nd & 4th Mondays of each month beginning at 10 am and continuing until all available slots are filled.
This organization can help if: you have been told your medication is not covered by your Medicare prescription drug plan; you want help getting your Medicare prescription plan to cover your prescription or to appeal your plan?s decision not to cover a drug; you want Medicaid to pay for a drug that your Medicare drug plan doesn?t cover; you have been able to get only part of your prescription filled; or you are having any other problems getting your medications through Medicare Part D.

Services are provided to individuals aged 60 and over in Brooklyn without regard to income. The office does consider income and resource issues in making priority decisions.
