Brooklyn Legal Services, Corporation A - Unemployment Insurance Advocacy Project
 
WHO WE ARE
The Unemployment Insurance Advocacy Project provides legal advice and representation to unemployed workers seeking unemployment insurance (UI) benefits. UI is a critical source of income support to unemployed workers providing eligible workers with up to $405 a week for up to 26 weeks. To be eligible for UI a worker must have lost her job due to no fault of her own.

Area(s) Served:  Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Queens, Richmond (Staten Island)
Languages Spoken:  Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese Chinese, Spanish
Languages for which interpreters can be provided: Language Line telephonic interpretation is used for all other languages. All limited English proficient clients are provided with language assistance.
Wheelchair Accessible: Y
Income Guidelines: 
  Your family's income should be at or below 125.0% of the poverty level.

This program can accept individuals with incomes up to 200% of the poverty level if the person has special circumstances such as high medical bills, child care expenses, or other debts.
 
Other Requirements: For help, you must be:
  US citizen or legal immigrant
