WHO WE ARE

The Saratoga Springs office of the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York serves low income residents of Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties.  We provide advice, brief service, referral, community legal education and full representation in a variety of civil legal matters.  We also administer several special projects:  Foreclosure Prevention Project, Disability Advocacy Project, several homelessness prevention programs, Senior Legal Services Program, Children's Law Project, Nutrition Outreach & Education Project, Domestic Violence Legal Assistance Project and the Upstate New York Immigration Law Project.  LASNNY also has offices in Albany, Canton, Amsterdam and Plattsburgh.  Please use directory to access information on how to contact each individual office, or visit our website at www.lasnny.org

Languages for which interpreters can be provided: We provide an interpreter for all languages through Language Line

Income Guidelines: 
  Your family's income should be at or below 125.0% of the poverty level.

  Must be U.S. Citizen or legal resident. Must reside in Saratoga, Warren or Washington Counties
 
Some special projects have income caps at 150% or 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, or no income caps at all. Additionally, households with incomes of up to 200% may be eligible for services depending upon fixed debts and obligations, employment-related or medical expenses, and other factors.
 
Clients are responsible for bankruptcy court filing fees.
 
 
TYPE OF HELP
This group provides the following types of services based on your legal needs and its resources:
 
  Brief Advice
  Self-Help Materials- Sample cease and desist letters to creditors for people with debt collection problems.
  Other- In almost all instances, advice, brief service or a referral will be provide; If a case falls within one of our special projects, full representation is possible. Regrettably, due to limited resources, LASNNY cannot provide representation to everyone who calls.

Emergency Instructions
If your problem is an emergency as described below, follow the contact instructions for emergency cases. Most offices are open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
 
What is an Emergency?  Immediate lack of food, shelter or clothing; court or other legal deadline within one week; taking of child by unauthorized person, including CPS, domestic violence victim with safety issue.
