| WHO WE ARE |
The Legal Aid Society of Rochester is a not-for-profit organization that provides direct legal services, including lay advocacy and related human services, to adults and children. We ensure that those who seek justice have an opportunity to receive a fair and full hearing. We obtain legal solutions that have a beneficial impact on our clients and the community.
The purpose of the Elder Abuse Outreach Program is to increase awareness about elder abuse and to assist those in abusive situations to get the help they need to end the abuse. In collaboration with Lifespan, we provide services in Genesee, Monroe, and Orleans counties to seniors who have suffered physical, emotional, psychological, and/or financial abuse.
We provide direct legal representation, legal counseling, outreach, and training in cases involving elder abuse.
We work in partnership with Lifespan to provide social work services to elder abuse victims.
We provide legal representation to assist seniors with:
-
- Ending the abusive relationship
-
- Obtaining Orders of Protection
-
- Evicting abusive household members/tenants
-
- Divorce proceedings when domestic violence is an issue
