| WHO WE ARE |
The Canton office of the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York provides civil legal services to low income residents of St. Lawrence County and the St. Regis Indian Reservation. We provide advice, brief service, referrals, community legal education and full representation in a variety of civil legal matters. Please contact the office for more information on services provided under special projects: Foreclosure Prevention Project, Disability Advocacy Project, Senior Legal Services, service for victims of domestic violence, and protection & advocacy services for the mentally and physically disabled.
Legal Aid also has offices in Albany, Amsterdam, Plattsburgh and Saratoga Springs. Please use directory to access information on how to contact each individual office. Or go to our website at www.lasnny.org.

Your family's income should be at or below 125.0% of the poverty level.

You must be a citizen or legal resident of the U.S. and must reside in either St. Lawrence County or the St. Regis Indian Reservation.

Exceptions depend on type of mortgage, but generally income limits are higher than usual LASNNY limits. Other eligibility rules apply such as citizenship/eligible alien.

| This group provides the following types of services based on your legal needs and its resources: |

Full Legal Representation- Full representation is based on program priorities, availability of staff resources, or special project guidelines.
Brief Advice- In almost all instances, advice, brief service or a referral will be provided; if a case falls within one of our special projects, full representation is possible. Regrettably, due to limited resources, LASNNY cannot provide representation to everyone who calls.

Emergency Instructions
|
| If your problem is an emergency as described below, follow the contact instructions for emergency cases. Most offices are open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted. |

| What is an Emergency? Immediate lack of food, shelter or clothing; a court or other legal deadline within one week, taking of a child by an unauthorized person, including CPS or domestic violence victim with safety issue. |
