WHO WE ARE

The Monroe County Legal Assistance Corporation provides free legal services to low-income residents of Monroe county with a core staff of experienced attorneys and paralegals.  MCLAC staff are specialized and provide representation in limited areas of the law identified as priorities by the client community.  The priority areas include insuring safe, affordable housing in safe communities; helping individuals and families obtain economic stability; insuring the safety, health, and well being of clients and their families; and improving outcomes for families and children.

  You will need to bring proof of eligibility (green card) if you are an alien.

Income Guidelines: 
  Your family's income should be at or below 125.0% of the poverty level.

There are no income guidelines for: Elder, Fair Housing Enforcement project, victims of Domestic Violence, or clients with up to 187% of poverty level for individuals with specific costs (health care).
 
Other Requirements: For help, you must be:
  You must be a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant.
  This program does not serve prisoners
  Citizen or eligible alien

  Other- We have initiated a re-entry service to help individuals who face discrimination and other issues as a result of their criminal records or history of incarceration.

Emergency Instructions
If your problem is an emergency as described below, follow the contact instructions for emergency cases. Most offices are open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
 
What is an Emergency?  72 hour notice of eviction, impending homelessness.
