Before calling, have all relevant documents, such as bills and statements from Medicare or insurance companies, on hand.

The Medicare Rights Center's New York State Hotline provides counseling to individuals who need answers to Medicare-related questions or help getting care. The Medicare Rights Center also operates the Medicare HMO Appeals Hotline - 888-HMO-9050 - which assists Medicare HMO members who are appealing HMO denials of care or coverage. If you cannot call during the hotline hours, you can write to the Medicare Rights Center, 520 Eighth Avenue, NW 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018.
