Sanctuary for Families' Center for Battered Women's Legal Services
 
WHO WE ARE

Sanctuary for Families is dedicated to meeting the needs of victims of domestic violence, while advocating for societal change and raising public awareness to end violence against all women and children. To protect and empower battered women, Sanctuary for Families provides crisis intervention, emergency and transitional housing, individual and group counseling, job readiness and mentoring programs. Through the Center for Battered Women's Legal Services, representation is provided to women in divorce, child custody and visitation child support, immigration, the LGBT community, and victims of human trafficking.

Santuario para familias se dedica a atender las necesidades de victimas de violencia domestica y a la misma vez aboga por el cambio social y la concienciación social para ponerle fin a la violencia contra la mujer y los niños. Para proteger y empoderar a las mujeres maltratadas, Santuario para Familias provee intervención de crisis, emergencia y vivienda de transición, consejería individual y en grupo, preparación de trabajo y programas de mentoria. A través del Centro de Servicios Legales para Mujeres Maltratadas, representación se provee en casos de divorcio, custodia, visitación y manutención de menores, inmigración, la comunidad LGBT y víctimas de la trata.

  Services are provided to indigent and poor victims of domestic violence. We now provide immigration assistance for victims of human trafficking.

Emergency Instructions
If your problem is an emergency as described below, follow the contact instructions for emergency cases. Most offices are open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
 
What is an Emergency?  Victim of domestic violence in immediate danger of attack by abuser, or wrongful arrest.
 
Emergency Contact Information:  If you are in immediate danger of attack, dial 911 for police assistance. Call 212-349-6009, extension 246. There will be intensive intervention by a staff attorney or volunteer attorney under staff supervision.
