| WHO WE ARE |
| Founded in 1971, AFC works in partnership with our city's poorest and most vulnerable families to help their children succeed in school and to advocate on behalf of all New York City (NYC) students for access to an equal and quality public education. AFC's mission focuses on helping children who are at the greatest risk for academic failure due to poverty, ethnicity, disability, homelessness, immigration status/limited English proficiency, involvement in the child welfare or juvenile justice systems, domestic violence, sexual orientation, or teen parenting. AFC plays a critical role in the development of our city's educational policies by providing quality advocacy services, training and information to tens of thousands of parents and professionals yearly. |
