Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights The Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights (NMCIR) is a non-profit organization that educates, defends and protects the rights of immigrants. Recognized by the Board of Immigration Appeals, NMCIR is committed to expanding access to legal immigration services, and participating in policy making and community organizing efforts.
NMCIR provides a variety of services to the immigrant community under the following issues: Family Reunification, Citizenship, Family Based Petitions, Deportation, and ESL.

The Lesbian and Gay Immigration Rights Task Force (LGIRTF) is a coalition of immigrants, attorneys and other activists who address the widespread impact of discriminatory immigration laws on the lives of those in the gay, lesbian, bisexual & transgender community and immigrants who are living with HIV/AIDS. LGIRTF offers free legal clinics and support group meetings, publishes an informative newsletter and a heavily trafficked website. LGIRTF responds to hundreds of individual requests for information and assistance each year.

We provide groundbreaking social service, public policy, educational and cultural/recreational programs. We also serve as an incubator for grassroots groups that meet here. Indeed, we were the birthplace of organizations such as the AIDS activist group ACT UP and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the principal organization combating homophobia and stereotyping of gays in the media.
