Information about Medicaid including the most current income and financial resource eligibility levels, where to apply, how to get help applying, and how to request a fair hearing. NOTE that medicaid eligiblilty rules are complicated, and this is a basic overview. The rules are different for children under 21 and their parents than for seniors age 65+ and for people with disabilities, and also are different for people between 21-65 who are not disabled.

   Three Changes in New York's Medicaid and Medicare Savings Program
As of April 2008, Medicaid permits all beneficiaries to have more savings or financial resources. Also, the "Medicare Savings Program,"which pays the Medicare Part B monthly premium and sometimes other Medicare costs, no longer sets a limit on the amount of savings one may have to qualify. Also, Medicaid no longer requires drug and alcohol screening for people under 65.
