Central American Legal Assistance
Central American Legal Assistance (CALA) provides representation to asylum-seeking immigrants and refugees from Central America, but also from Peru, Colombia, and other Spanish-speaking countries. CALA defends individuals against deportation/removal and applies for legal status where possible. CALA also gives a free orientation on immigration law and procedures to any indigient or low-income Spanish-speaking immigrant. CALA helps newly arrived asylum seekers (giving priority to those in danger of deportation) free of charge. CALA has low fees for those who have lived in the United States for a number of years.
