Atlanta Legal Aid Society and Georgia Legal Services Program are delighted to annouce that they are in the finals for TechBridge's Advancing Community Through Technology Award for their joint web site, LegalAid-GA.org, and for the Georgia Technology Exchange Program.
LegalAid-GA.org provides over 700 resources to help Georgians represent themselves. Georgians may now: · know their rights and legal responsibilities in 23 areas of law; · obtain copies of complaint letters, legal forms and court documents; · find lawyers who will provide free and low-cost legal help; · locate nearby social service providers; and · find the courts in each county.
Since July 2002 over 10,000 visitors have viewed and downloaded over 320,000 pages of the web site.
Georgia Technology Exchange Program distributes refurbished computers loaded with public domain software to legal service organizations and non-profits throughout Georgia. In 2002 GTEP provided 164 computers to 8 legal services organizations and 11 nonprofit community organizations, enhancing the delivery of legal services and further bridging the digital divide in low-income communities throughout Georgia.
