Equality Advocates' mission is to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals in Pennsylvania through direct legal services, education and policy reform.

It is the only organization in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania offering direct legal services for the LGBT community. Equality Advocates is home to the country's only law student clinic dedicated to LGBT issues.

Equality Advocates offers assistance on over 30 distinct issues. These include family-law related legal issues, specifically: child custody; support and visitation; second-parent adoptions; and the need for legal documents, such as wills and powers of attorney, to ensure that same-sex partners and families are legally protected, as well as employment discrimination issues..
