 Georgia Justice Builders
Draft Vision Statement

All people of Georgia look to, and rely upon, the justice system of this State with confidence as a mechanism for upholding rights and resolving disputes in an environment characterized by respect, trust, impartiality, efficiency and fairness. The justice system of this State is available to, and responsive to, the needs of all people in the State regardless of income, race, age, gender or other status.

Why Build a Justice Community?

Low-income individuals and communities as well as the organizations and institutions who serve them face unprecedented challenges, e.g., negative public perceptions of people who are poor; funding cuts to vital resources such as housing, job training, health care; under-resourced and over-burdened institutions and agencies called upon to do more with less. None of these challenges lend themselves to short-term or simple solutions; rather, they call upon us to develop new ways of harnessing our collective resources so that we can achieve together what none of us can accomplish alone. Our Goals include:

  • Community education & pro se initiatives
  • Enhanced resources for civil legal aid and pro bono programs
  • Enhanced involvement of attorneys in pro bono efforts
  • Improved Advocacy Collaboration and Training
  • Improved access to the civil justice system by clients and client groups
  • Improved collaboration among civil legal aid and pro bono programs
  • Evaluation of program effectiveness
  • Enhanced technology to deliver legal services to the poor
