Ms. Hurder was the Pro Bono Committee Chair for the Public Interest Law Society's Executive Board at LSU's Law Center during the 2006 - 2007 school year. During her year of service, Ms. Hurder developed several projects that coordinated law students with pro bono opportunities in the Baton Rouge area. Ms. Powell has been a wonderful volunteer for several of our projects as well as a great leader for the Student Hurricane Network division at Southern University Law Center.  Over the course of this year, Ms. Powell has recruited, developed, and participated in several projects that include both legal and non-legal volunteer opportunities.  During her fall semester, she organized a day of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.  Over the course of her winter break, she volunteered over 70 hours for our project with New Orleans Legal Assistance Corporation's Family Law Databank Notes.  For the Spring semester, Ms. Powell is working on organizing a clothing drive and is also working as an intern at Capital Area Legal Services Corporation.  It has been a pleasure working with Flora and it is with great pride that we nominate her for this award.

Earlnisha D. Williams, Paul M. Hebert Law Center:

One of our first volunteer law students, Earlnisha D. Williams has served over 350 hours of pro bono service over the course of her law school career at LSU Law's Paul M. Hebert Law Center.  Initially, Ms. Williams volunteered over 100 hours of service with the Louisiana Child Advocacy Center with our program.  It was during this service and her second year at the law center that Ms. Williams requested our assistance with a position in the Shreveport area.  Executive Director of Northwest Louisiana's Pro Bono Project, Ruth Moore, agreed to place Ms. Williams at their location.  At the completion of her service there, Ms. Moore gave her a glowing recommendation.  Ms. Williams is officially moving to Shreveport after graduating from the law center and will be working with Judge Garrett.  Congratulations to Ms. Williams for her outstanding service to our program.
