  • New Orleans Legal Assistance (NOLAC) also helps people statewide with low-income tax issues and problems with predatory home loans.

If you have a criminal problem: 

  • You may have a right to a free lawyer, called a public or indigent defender.  Here is the Louisiana Public Defenders Association website -- www.lapda.org. 
  • To find a public or indigent defender, look in the city or parish listings of your phone book, or ask the court for help.  There is a Public Defender Directory on the Louisiana Indigent Defense Assistance Board website at www.lidab.com.
