Who is Eligible to receive food stamps?

v Low-income families (especially those with children)
v Certain low-income adults
v Elderly citizens
v Elderly immigrants who were both
Ø legally residing in the U.S., and
Ø 65 years or older on August 22, 1996.
v Legal immigrant children under the age of 19 are eligible for Food Stamps
v U.S. citizen children and legal immigrant children may be eligible for Food Stamps, even if their parents are not.
v When applying for Food Stamps for your children only, you are NOT required to provide your Social Security number or your immigration status. Tell the case worker you are applying for your children only, you do not want Food Stamps for yourself.
