ASSISTED LIVING

Who Should Choose Assisted Living? Assisted living facilities are for those who, by choice or necessity, feel they need help with some activities but do not require extensive care. Generally, the resident can get help with daily living activities such as eating, housekeeping, dressing, and bathing. Assisted living facilities do not offer heavy medical and nursing care. For more information on Assisted Living see: Assisted Living: Help Only When You Need It on the AARP website: <http://www.aarp.org/confacts/housing/assistliv.html>

The Consumer Consortium on Assisted Living, a national consumer advocacy

organization dedicated solely to the needs and rights of assisted living residents, has a checklist available for purchase on their website entitled:

"Choosing an Assisted Living Facility: Considerations for Making the Right Decision"

This site, developed by the National Resource and Policy Center on Housing and Long Term Care of the Agency on Aging gives a checklist for evaluating assisted living residences.

Lawyer Advertising. In some jurisdictions this web site may be considered lawyer advertising. The hiring of a lawyer is an important decision that should not be based solely upon advertisements.

Any listing of an attorney does not constitute a recommendation of the attorney. Before hiring any attorney, you should investigate the attorney''s reputation and qualifications.

Unless you are already a client of the attorney, your e-mail may NOT be protected by the attorney-client privilege. Moreover, unless it is encrypted, e-mail can be intercepted by persons other than the recipient. Deadlines are extremely important in most legal matters. You may lose important legal rights if you do not hire an attorney immediately to advise you. Many people do not check their e-mail daily, and some attorneys do not respond to unsolicited e-mail from non-clients.
