Wyoming Marriage Requirements
Wyoming law has certain requirements for people getting married.
Age
Under 16: You need a judge's consent AND your parents' consent
16 and 17: You need your parents' consent
18 and older: You don't need anyone's consent outside of yourself and your future spouse
How your parents give consent: When you go to the county clerk to get a marriage license, your parents can either
Go with you and verbally tell the clerk that it's OK for you to get married;
Put their consent in writing as long as one witness signs the paper. The witness can't be your parents, you, or your future spouse. The witness must also be 18 or older.
Both people must consent to the marriage. No one can be forced to marry.
Both people must be able to fully understand what they are getting into at the time they enter into marriage. This means you must have the metal capacity to know what you are doing. You also must be sober when you get married.
Neither person can be married to anyone else. If this happens, your new marriage is no good.
