FIRST STEP

If you believe you need free legal help in Washington State, your first step is to call CLEAR, the Coordinated Legal Education, Advice and Referral system. Or visit them on the web:

CLEAR is Northwest Justice Project's toll-free telephone service for eligible low-income people to obtain free legal assistance with civil legal problems. Clients in need of interpreter services in order to access legal services through NJP are entitled to those services.

Calling CLEAR: If you are low-income and have a non-criminal legal problem, call CLEAR at 1-888-201-1014 weekdays from 9:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.

Calling CLEAR*Sr: If you are 60 or over you may call CLEAR*Sr at 1-888-387-7111 regardless of income.

SECOND STEP: Thurston County Volunteer Legal Services

** YOU CAN’T AFFORD AN ATTORNEY (We will not assist you, if your income exceeds these levels)

TCVLS provides free legal services to residents of Thurston and Mason Counties, Washington whose incomes are within 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. In calculating financial eligibility, substantial monthly expenses such as child care or monthly medical expenses are taken into account.

TCVLS provides services at free legal clinics to clients facing domestic violence or sexual assault regardless of income eligibility.

Financial eligibility for the Housing Justice project is set at 200% FPG, to accommodate a greater number of clients on the Unlawful Detainer calendar.

**If you are too late to call for an appointment, come to a drop-in clinic the first Thursday or third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at Safeplace, 314 Legion Way, Olympia, WA.

EVICTIONS

**If you have landlord-tenant issues, call 705-8194.

**If you are being evicted this week, call 705-8194 and come to our Housing Justice Project at the Thurston County Courthouse, Building 2 at 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Olympia, WA at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
