The Legal Hotline is the first place to go to get information and advice about elder law issues. The Legal Hotline is a special project of Iowa Legal Aid that provides legal advice and other services to Iowans who are 60 or older. The Hotline’s services are free and confidential. By getting legal advice when you need it, you can prevent and resolve legal problems, avoid being victimized, remain independent and make better life planning decisions. You can get legal information and advice about most non-criminal issues, including: Consumer & Finance (home repairs, debt problems, telephone and utility issues), Housing, Family Law, Grandparent Visitation and other issues, Individual Rights (guardianships, privacy, elder abuse) Wills and Life Planning, Health Care (Medicaid, prescriptions, health care directives, and insurance), Public Benefits (social security, Medicaid, elderly property tax credit, energy assistance) Nursing Home and Long Term Care (resident rights, paying for care)
Use the Legal Information page to get general information about many legal topics. If you need specific legal advice, click the Contact Us button, or call the Legal Hotline at 1-800-992-8161.
