John Tye has been named as a Skadden Fellow to work at the New Orleans Legal Assistance office of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. 

Tye's fellowship is funded by the Skadden Fellowship Foundation and the global law firm of Skadden Arps.

Tye will provide direct services and policy advocacy to promote and preserve home ownership in the Katrina disaster areas of Southeast Louisiana.

Tye is a 2006 graduate of Yale Law School where he was a Senior Editor of the Yale Law Review and Co-Director of the Lowenstein International Human Rights Project. Before law school, he worked as investigative reporter for the Southern Poverty Law Center in Alabama.

Tye was a 2000 Rhodes Scholar and earned M.A. and B.A. degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University in England. He also graduated from Duke University summa cum laude.

The Skadden Fellowship Foundation was created by the Skadden Arps law firm to fund public interest law fellowships for academically outstanding law graduates. From 1988 to 2006, the Skadden Fellowship Foundation has funded 473 fellows to work at public interest law organizations throughout America.
