The New Orleans chapter of the Association of Women Attorneys has chosen Bernadette D’Souza to receive the prestigious Michaelle Pitard Wynne Professionalism Award.
This honor is in memory of the late United States Magistrate Wynne of the Eastern District of Louisiana. The recipient, the AWA notes, is a “member of the greater New Orleans legal community who exemplifies the ideals and professionalism that Magistrate Judge Wynne so capably displayed in her too short career.”
Managing attorney of the Family Law Unit at New Orleans Legal Assistance, an office of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, Ms. D’Souza’s work includes vigorous advocacy on behalf of victims of domestic violence.
New Orleans Legal Assistance and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services are proud that Ms. D’Souza is joining a roster of recipients that includes, among others, Judge Jay C. Zainey of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Jane Johnson of Tulane University Law School, and Judge Madeleine M. Landrieu of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans.
Ms. D’Souza will receive this year’s award at the AWA’s Annual Dinner in January, where the speaker will be New Orleans City Council member Arnie Fielkow.
