Program News > Equal Justice Conference hears from Ranie Thompson

Ranie Thompson described the lasting impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita at the May 2008 Equal Justice Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The workshop, called "One Disaster, Two Recoveries: The Ongoing Pursuit of Justice on the Gulf Coast," explored the continued need for new ways to deliver pro bono legal services across state lines to communities that remain in crisis. The workshop reviewed lessons learned from successful as well as unsuccessful strategies.

Ranie Thompson is an Equal Justice Works Katrina Legal Fellow and an attorney with New Orleans Legal Assistance, an office of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. Her fellowship is funded by the global law firm of Latham & Watkins, Equal Justice Works and the JEHT Foundation.
