The Legal System
2008 Poverty Guidelines and Legal Services
Whether a person can get free legal help from some legal aid and legal services programs depends on his or her income and other financial resources. Here are income guidelines based on 125% and 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. Some programs limit help to people with income under the 125% mark, and make exceptions for people with income between 125% and 200%. Even if you think you make too much money, you should always check with the program that provices free legal help to see if you qualify for free legal aid, since some exceptions may apply.
