Types of Cases ASLA Handles
ASLA provides free civil legal assistance to low income persons in the types of cases listed in the ASLA Priorities such as Minor Guardianship, Name Change, Small Estates, Domestic Violence, Home Foreclosure Defense, and many more. ASLA does not provide legal assistance for defendants in criminal cases. If you have such a matter, please consult another attorney.
Disaster victims needing info on disaster assistance should visit www.disasterlegalaid.org.
Persons seeking ASLA’s free civil legal assistance who do not meet the client financial, citizenship and priorities eligibility guidelines should consult with a private attorney by clicking the Other Service Providers tab.
Before You Visit Our Office
To protect the health and safety of ASLA clients, employees, applicants and the people of American Samoa from the COVID-19 pandemic, ASLA encourages clients and applicants to first contact ASLA by telephone (phone nos. 633-3300/633-3301/633-3302), email (asla@aslegalaid.org), or Facebook (American Samoa Legal Aid) to determine if ASLA can provide legal assistance to you without you having to personally come to the ASLA office.
If you are having a FEVER, COUGH, or HAVE DIFFICULTY BREATHING, please DO NOT COME TO THE ASLA OFFICE AND DO NOT ENTER THE ASLA OFFICE. If you have these symptoms mentioned above, please contact the LBJ hospital (phone no. 633-1222) or Dept. of Health (phone no. 633-5871) for medical advice or assistance.
Anyone entering the ASLA Office who does NOT have a fever, cough or difficulty breathing, should first use the sanitizer or wipes to clean your hands before seeing an ASLA staff member.
It is recommended that you wear your own mask.
