Introduction
Due to COVID-19, crime victims may have questions about changes in court dates in criminal cases, if an inmate is being released early from jail or prison due to COVID-19, and have concerns about their safety if an inmate is being released. Below are resources that may be helpful for crime victims.
Resources
During the COVID-19 emergency, you can still apply for crime victims’ compensation funds remotely. The maximum amount of help available for crime victims to pay for food and shelter has been increased temporarily due to COVID-19.
- You can learn more about who is eligible for the Crime Victims Compensation Program here and what expenses the Program can help with here.
- Application form (Application can be emailed to CVCPapplications@DCSC.gov. Proof of crime documents should be sent with the application).
- If you are not able to complete an application online, you can call the Crime Victims Compensation Program at (202-879-4216) or email CVCPOffice@dcsc.gov for help.
