Information | Please note that due to a high demand for services, it may be necessary for the Resource Center to limit the number of customers it sees each day and close intake before 11:30 a.m. Even if intake is closed early, all customers who have court dates that day will be seen if they sign in before 11:30 a.m. The Resource Center will, whenever possible, provide written materials and referrals to customers who cannot be seen that day. |
Who We Are
The Consumer Law Resource Center provides free legal and court information related to Consumer Law matters in the District of Columbia:
• Debt Collection
• Home Improvement/Independent Contractor Disputes
• Security Deposit Refunds
• Small Claims Cases
• Used Car or Car Repair Disputes
• Utility Disputes
• Violations of the Consumer Protection Procedures Act
The Resource Center does not help with evictions, government benefits, taxes, stay away/restraining orders, or domestic violence orders. Unless the case can be filed in the Small Claims Branch (cases seeking $10,000 or less), the Resource Center does not help with car accidents, employment, personal injury, medical malpractice, or other tort cases.
We are open on Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Please see our flyer for more information.
