Who We Are
Due to the public health concerns associated with COVID-19, an illness caused by coronavirus, Rising for Justice has closed in-person intake at its main office at 901 – 4th Street, N.W. on a temporary basis. We also have suspended operations temporarily in Room 210 in Superior Court Building B at 510 - 4th Street, N.W. and at our office in courtroom 118 in the main building of the Superior Court at 500 Indiana Avenue, N.W. During this period, we will be available for intake and all other client matters by telephone. For assistance, please call our main office between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm at 202-638-4798. If you are a tenant in need of immediate assistance, please call between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm for same-day services.
The program represents D.C. residents with civil issues, including and mainly landlord and tenant, and consumer issues. The criminal division represents juveniles and persons accused of misdemeanors.

It is always best to bring with you all papers relevant to the court case or problem that you have. If you want representation, please bring proof of income. We are a legal services program with income limitations. We cannot represent everyone who looks for help, but we will talk with you about your problem, offer what assistance we can, and make a referral if appropriate.
Court intake is held in Room 113, Building B, 510 4th Street, N.W., near the Landlord and Tenant Courtroom. Intake is staffed at court from 10 a.m. to 1:00pm, Monday through Friday.
