The IRS will grant 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status only to organizations dedicated to "charitable, religious, educational" or other qualified purposes. At the same time, nonprofits are prohibited from engaging in a variety of activities including those that generate “private benefit,” those that constitute political intervention, and those that generate a substantial amount of non-mission related business income.

In this webinar, Jason Z. Qu, a senior managing attorney at the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center, will explain what 501(c)(3) organizations can and cannot pursue with respect to their mission and core activities.
