Eviction: The Court Process

This brochure describes what a private landlord and tenant go through when the landlord is trying to evict the tenant. If you are preparing for trial, pick up Legal Aid Society of Hawaii’s Answer and Counterclaim Packet for more detailed information.

This brochure does not apply to federally funded Hawai’i Public Housing Authority buildings though it does apply to state-funded Hawai’i Public Housing Authority. If you live in a HUD-subsidized building, you have extra rights and protections.
