The Division of Certification surveys health facilities that participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, including nursing homes and facilities for the mentally retarded. These facilities are surveyed with unannounced site visits. Survey teams include nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians and qualified mental retardation professionals.
SC Department of Disabilities and Special Needs
SCDDSN is the state agency that plans, develops, overseas, and funds services for South Carolinaians with severe, lifelong disabilities of intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury in spinal cord, injury, and conditions related to each of these for disabilities. Their mission is to assist people with disabilities and their families and meeting needs, pursuing possibilities, and achieving life goals.
